Dead by Sunrise, Linkin Park solisti Chester Bennington'un proje grubu. Yıllardan beri lafını duyarız, sonunda iş ciddiye bindi. İlk albüm "Out of Ashes", 13 Ekim 2009'da çıktı.
Chester, yıllardan beri "LP'de yaptığım müzik dışında kendimi ifade edeceğim yeni bir proje arıyordum" diyor. Dead by Sunrise, ilk şarkılarını 'de yayınladı. İlk izlenim, şarkıların LP’den daha old school, daha rock'n'roll ve daha karanlık olduğu yönünde. Mike Shinoda, “Chester, kendi evinde sürekli akustik gitarla harika şarkılar çalar, o şarkılar, karnınıza yumruk gibi inen bir albüm haline geldi" diyor. Dead by Sunrise, Chester dışında Julien-K yeleri Amir ve Ryan'dan oluşuyor ancak kendi sitesinde bile "Chester Bennington'un solo albümü" yazıyor. Chester, 2006'da "Minutes to Midnight"ı hazırlarken bazı şarkılar yazmış ancak şarkıların LP ile alakası yokmuş. Bunları LP şarkısı haline getirene kadar kurcalamak yerine, kendi başına çalışmaya karar vermiş. Grubun adı, o günlerde Snow White Tan'miş. "Out of Ashes"ın kayıtları, Temmuz 2008'de başladı. Kayıtların bir yıl sürmesinin sebebi, aynı anda LP'nin dördüncü albümünün kayıtlarının da yapılıyor olmasıydı. 'Crawl Back In" ve ‘Let Down'a video çekildi. Albümün ilk single'ı 'Crawl Back In' de 16 Ağustos'ta yayınlandı Chester'n içindeki sanatsal üretim hissiyatına ket vurmak istemeyip de oluşturduğu yeni bir oluşum; dead By Sunrise. daha önce verdiği demeçlerden birinde. bu isme ('' Günün Doğmasıyla Ölü'') karar verişini şöyle anlatıyor Chester; '' Grubun ismini Snow White Tan koymayı düşünüyorduk. Fakat o sıralarda. bu albüm için şarkıları oluşturmaya başladığım o ilk anlarda o kadar hızlı bir parti vardı ki... Evet. her gece partiliyorduk. birçoğu pek eğlenceli geçmese de sabahın ilk ışıklarına kadar takılıyorduk. bir süre güneşi göremeden yaşadım diyebilirim. O sıralarda kendime aslında zarar verdiğimi de fark ettim. Bu grup beni yeniden ayağa kaldıracak olan motivasyonu yakalamamda önemli bir rol oynadı. Bir meydan okuma gibiydi. İsmi de o dönemi düşünerek seçtim işte. Kulağa hoş geliyor ve müziğimizdeki karanlığı da iyi temsil ediyor.'' Grubun olayı Chester, Linkin Park'n son albümü '' Minutes To Midnight''ın(2007) yazım aşamasındayken böyle bir grubu kurmasının arkasındaki sebebi ise şöyle açıklıyor; '' Linkin Park'n stiline uymayacak ama beni iyi hissettiren ve iyi tınlayan birkaç şarkı yazmıştım. Grupla ilgili birlikte yazdığım her şeyden daha karanlık ve daha atmosferiktiler. Ben de bu şarkılarla oynayıp onları birer Linkin Park şarkısına çevirmeyi çalışmaktansa kendime saklamayı tercih ettim. Ve sonra da bu şarkıları kullanabileceğim farklı bir grup oluşturma fikrine kapıldım.'' Dead By Sunrise'ın gitaristlerinden Ryan Shuck ise grubun köklerine şöyle ışık tutuyor ; '' Henüz Linkin Park ilk albümünü yeni çıkardığı zamanlarda bile Chester'la takılırdık. Onun evindeyken akustik gitariyla çaldığı bazı deneme şarkılara bayılırdım.'' ''Linkin Park İle Kıyaslamayın'' Kaliforniyalı endüstriyel rock grubu Julien-K ve yine aynı bölgeden meşhur synth rock grubu Orgy'de yer alan gitaristler Ami Derakh ve Ryan Shuck'n yanı sıra Julien-K'n geriye kalan iki elemanı da basçı Brandon Belsky ve davulcu Elias Andra bu proje için Chester ile çalışmayı kabul ettiler. Chester bir de Anthony ''Fu'' Valcic'i klavyeci olarak ekibe dahil etti ve kıvılcım ateşlendi ! Geçtiğimiz günlerde yayınladıkları ilk albümleri '' Out Of Ashes'' için Cehster'n sözleri ile bitirelim; '' Herkes bunu yapacak biliyorum ama ben bu albümün LP albümleri ile kıyaslanmasını istemiyorum. Burada hem şarkı sözlerinde hem de müzikal anlamda daha karanlık ve dolaysız bir anlatım var. Burada Daha geniş sınıflarımız var. Kendimizi hiçbir şekilde kısıtlamadık ve bu yüzden şarkıların farklı tarzlardan beslenen bir yapısı var.'' GRUBUN ÜYELERİ : Chester Bennington (Vokal) : Ryan Shuck (Gitar/Geri Vokal) : 11 Nisan 1973 doğumlu olan sanatçı tam bir gitar hastasıydı. Alternatif rock gruplarında çaldı ve Orgy grubuyla profesyonel müzik kariyerine başladı. Orgy kurulmadan önce Korn grubunun vokalisti Jonathan Davis ile ‘Sexart’ adlı grupta birlikte çalan Ryan Shuck, Orgy’nin oluşumuyla birlikte bu arkadaşlığı grubu için kullandı ve grup 6 ay sonra Korn’un sahibi olduğu Elementre Records ile anlaşma sağladı. Ryan Shuck ve Amir Derakh, ‘Julien-K’ adlı elektronik müzik grubu projesi üzerinde uğraşırlarken, grubun ilk albümü “Death To Analog”un 2008 senesinde müzik vitrinindeki yerini aldı. Ayrıca ikili, Linkin Park’ın vokalisti Chester Bennington ile de bir araya gelerek ‘Dead By Sunrise’ adlı grubu hayata geçirdi.
